About Our Troop
We're glad you're interested in Troop 2, and we look forward to meeting you and your family. Our motto is simple: "Have fun and camp!"
Our unit: Troop 2 is a Scouts BSA boy troop running the traditional program, chartered by the Kiwanis Club — Appleton-Fox Cities and meeting at First United Methodist Church under the Scouting America Bay-Lakes Council.
Our history: Chartered over 100 years ago in 1919 at First United Methodist Church, Troop 2 is the oldest continuously running scout troop in the Fox Valley area. More than 120 scouts have reached Eagle, the highest rank in scouting, and countless others have picked up skills in camping, citizenship, and hobbies that carry into their school, church, community, and careers.
Our purpose: Scouting builds character, citizenship, and personal fitness in youth. The program's aims are achieved through ideals, patrols, outdoor programs, advancement, association with adults, personal growth, leadership development, and the uniform.
There are several fine troops in Appleton, and we encourage families to visit a few before deciding. Troop 2 is known as the camping troop — we get outdoors in some capacity every month, January through December.
